
With over 25 years of experience in music education and performance, Chris Keniley brings a wealth of expertise to bands, ensembles, and individual students across the United States. He is a Grammy Music Educator Award Quarterfinalist (2026) and a 2026 Marquee Who’s Who in Music Education honoree, recognized for excellence in teaching, performance, and music leadership.
Chris is a multifaceted musician, performing and teaching percussion, brass, winds, piano, and other melodic instruments. He personally instructs 80–100 private students weekly nationwide and helps ensembles of all levels achieve their musical goals.
In the marching arts, Chris has over 20 years of experience directing, designing, and adjudicating. He has marched with the Colts Drum & Bugle Corps and arranged music and drill for bands across the U.S., creating original shows with no licensing required. He also serves as a clinician and adjudicator, helping programs refine performance, visual design, and ensemble coordination.
Chris’s leadership extends to worship and community music programs, serving as Worship Leader at First Southern Baptist Church in Mattoon, IL, and directing the Central Illinois Home School Woodwinds & Brass Ensemble. He also consults with local schools, providing instruction, instrument repair, and program support throughout the Midwest.
His teaching philosophy emphasizes clear instruction, consistent review, and adaptable strategies, ensuring that musicians of all ages can succeed. From creating functional musicians to developing worship leaders and future educators, Chris’s work empowers students to excel in performance, confidence, and musical growth.
