Grammy Update

In 2025 I had the incredible honor of being named a quarterfinalist for the Music Educator Award presented by the Grammy Museum (Grammy’s)

What followed was something I never expected.

Local media outlets, community members, fellow educators, former students, and musicians reached out with encouragement and support. Messages came in from people I hadn’t spoken to in years — all celebrating the impact that music education has had in their own lives.

While I did not advance to the Top 10, the experience was still deeply meaningful.

This recognition wasn’t just about an award — it became an opportunity to highlight the importance of music education in our schools, churches, and communities. It opened doors for conversations about mentorship, creativity, and the lifelong value of learning music.

The media attention brought attention not to me, but to something bigger:

The power of teaching.

Every article written, every message sent, and every word of encouragement reminded me why this work matters — not for accolades, but for the students who grow in confidence, discipline, and expression through music.

I’m truly grateful for the support shown throughout this process.
