Hymns | Shifted
I’ve been working on a new arrangement of the classic hymn Christ the Lord Is Risen Today — but with a bit of an unexpected twist.
Inspired by the energy and storytelling style of traditional sea shanties, this version brings a rhythmic, communal feel to a song that has been sung for generations. Sea shanties were originally work songs — meant to unite voices and create momentum — and that spirit fits beautifully with the triumphant message of the resurrection.
This version of Christ the Lord Is Risen Today is inspired by a current series called “Ships of Faith” developed by Dr. John Coin of First Southern Baptist Church in Mattoon, IL where I currently lead worship.
I’m excited to share this arrangement and stay tuned for more!
